Conference dinner

Nikki Bradley

The inspirational Nikki Bradley will deliver this year's keynote address, "Overcoming Adversity" at the conference dinner on Thursday night.

Diagnosed at the age of 16 with a rare form of bone cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma, Nikki had to undergo not one but two total hip replacement operations by the time she was 26. Undeterred, Nikki decided to raise awareness of the condition by setting up the Fighting Fit for Ewing's charity and taking on daunting physical challenges to highlight the importance of exercise for rehabilitation. She's scaled an Icelandic glacier on crutches, abseiled off a lighthouse in Donegal, attempted Guinness World Record for the fastest woman to complete a 5k on crutches and finished the gruelling Winter Fan Dance, a 24km trek across the Brecon Beacons in Wales, also on crutches.

In recognition of her achievements, Nikki has been nominated for an Outsider Magazine and a World Women of the Year Award: previous winners of the latter include Tina Turner, Nicole Kidman and Julie Walters.
