Event description

Description

Over the past few years a number of Greek owned or operated vessels have been attacked off West Africa. Vessels have been shot at; crew members have been kidnapped and in one tragic incident killed. With the break down in local amnesties between the government and the gangs in the Niger Delta there is every reason to fear that the situation will worsen.

Historically most attacks happen in the autumn and winter months and so this is a timely interactive workshop aimed at owners and their advisors who may be trading to West Africa in the coming months. It is your chance to learn lessons from those in the Greek shipping community who have first hand experience of these attacks and managing the aftermath. A chance to develop a protocol of good practice that you can take back to your companies.

The workshop will be led by Stephen Askins and Steve Harwood, two of the most experienced people in managing incidents and advising owners and insurers both on the threat and how it can be defeated.
