Event description

Description

Nigerians in Diaspora have continued to agitate for relevance in the Nigerian polity. There have been calls for a Diaspora Commission, Diaspora voting and other element of Diaspora political participation.

But there is a new agenda - a rise in the interest of Diaspora Nigerians to return home and provide political leadership, being one of the major contributors of FDIs and Over $25m remittance.

In London on the 30th January at the UK Parliament in Westminster, the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Diaspora will be joined by the 3 Diaspora returnee - Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who returned from the US, Hon Lanre Oshun who returned from the UK and Mr Dayo Israel who returned from the UK - and are creating their mark in the political landscape of their community. Other speakers are Ms Michelle Akintoye BME, Mr Alistair Soyode Chairman of BEN TV and Presidential Aspirant, Senator George Sekibo, Friends of Nigeria - Jim Shannon MP and Jeremy Lefroy MP.

They will share experience and interact with the Diaspora community on how Diaspora (both adult and youth) can play active role in the 2019 Election at the Nigerian Emerging Political Leaders Forum in London.
