Night Bat Detecting Walk !

Explore the canals after dark and tune into the hidden world of bats!

Join us for an unforgettable evening of night-time wildlife spotting with Canal & River Trust ecologist Shaun Pope. As the sun goes down, we’ll head out along the canal paths to discover the incredible world of bats – creatures that many of us never see, but which are buzzing with life above our heads after dark.

Using special bat detectors, you’ll be able to hear the unique sounds bats make as they hunt and navigate through the night. Shaun will guide us through the experience, sharing his expert knowledge about different species and the vital role bats play in our ecosystem. Whether you’re a nature lover, curious explorer, or just looking for something different to do – this is a fun, relaxed activity for everyone.

This event is open to people from all communities, and it’s a great way to meet others, spend time outdoors, and connect with nature in a completely new way. The walk is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 and over – no experience needed, and all equipment will be provided.

Make sure to bring a torch, wear sturdy walking shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather – we’ll be outside whatever the forecast!
