Night Walk for Edinburgh: At Home

Actions and Detail Panel

Event description
You can now download one of the biggest hits of last year’s Edinburgh International Festival on your own device.

About this event

You may be unable to get to Edinburgh to immerse yourself in the world of Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller's Night Walk for Edinburgh. Perhaps you are shielding, or are otherwise unable to walk the route. Whatever the reason, don't worry as you can download the At Home version on your own device and watch it when and where best works for you.

Following Janet Cardiff’s voice, she will lead you through the backstreets of Edinburgh’s Old Town, unravelling a disjointed tale – part game-playing, part surrealistic poetry, perhaps even a murder mystery – layered with history, invention and memories. One of the biggest hits of last year’s Edinburgh International Festival, Cardiff and Miller’s Night Walk for Edinburgh is now a permanent part of The Fruitmarket Gallery’s collection.

To gain access to Night Walk for Edinburgh you will need to:

  • Book a timeslot, this will give you a 23hr period in which to watch the film on your own device. Then download the Night Walk for Edinburgh App from the App Store for Apple devices or Google Play for Android. You must have 1Gb available for the HD film. The film will be deleted from the app after viewing.
  • Prior to your time-slot, download the film through the app onto your tablet or smartphone using a WiFi network. You will need to use the 10 digit Eventbrite Order number to enable the download. This will be emailed to you as part of your ticket It is located under your Order Summary and is a number like this #1439208561, you will then add this number excluding the # to download the film within the app.
  • For the best experience use a set of headphones to watch the film as it is filmed using binaural recording. The ‘3D’ sound only works if you are using headphones.
