Event Details

Join knowledgeable Toby Taylor, Site Manager, RSPB  Aylesbeare nature reserve, to track down the mysterious night creatures of the reserve. We’ll listen for the evocative haunting churr of the nightjar. Find out some of the folklore associated with these birds and why their old folk names include scissor grinder, goat sucker and fern owl. A great night to enjoy - two hours made up of walking, stopping, watching, listening and chatting,

Booking essential.

Tickets are not required for this event as we will have a list of attendees.

Please wear suitable warm outdoor clothing and stout shoes and bring a torch.


How to get to Joney's Cross car park:
Joney’s Cross car park is off the A3052 opposite Aylesbeare Common entrance (SY 057 897)
By road: Eight miles (12.8 km) east of Exeter. Six miles (9.5 km) east from the M5 on the A3052. Travel 0.5 mile (0.8 km) past the Halfway Inn, turn right towards Hawkerland and the car park is immediately on the left.
