HELP MEET THE CHALLENGES OF HOMELESSNESS
21 September 2016 • The Croydon Conference Centre
For 40 years Croydon’s dedicated Nightwatch volunteers have been meeting the needs of the town’s homeless community and in 2016 their efforts are as necessary as ever.
The largest volunteer organisation in the borough, working 365 days a year, Nightwatch staffs a regular town centre meeting point which provides basic help with food and clothing as well as
the opportunity to address more profound needs, supporting independent living and routes to employment.
In its 40th anniversary year, Nightwatch is seeking to work with the broader community help address the challenges underlying homelessness, from unemployment and debt through to
immigration and changes in the benefit system. As Croydon regenerates with increasing town centre residential and premium offices, it cannot afford to leave behind its most vulnerable
communities.
The Nightwatch 40th Anniversary Conference on September 21st will propose a vision of the way forward, as delegates take the opportunity to debate the challenges, share innovative
approaches, and offer solutions to the issues that the homeless and other vulnerable people face throughout the borough.
