We are looking for innovative technologies with potentially high impact from researchers and clinicians, including those who may not have previously worked with the NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Programme.
The i4i programme is a translational research funding scheme aimed at de-risking early-to-late stage medical devices, in vitro diagnostic devices and high-impact patient-focused digital health technologies for ultimate use in the NHS or social care settings.
The next i4i Product Development Awards funding opportunity will launch on 8th October 2025.
The expected focus of an i4i PDA project is product development towards its eventual clinical application or use in social care and/or the clinical development of a laboratory-validated technology or intervention. Research proposals should address an area of unmet need. Projects must demonstrate a clear pathway towards clinical adoption and commercialisation. Applications will be welcome from innovators at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Higher Education Institutions, and NHS and social care service providers from all parts of the United Kingdom.
