The NIPA 50th Weekend - celebrating 50 years of the NI Photographic Association
Join us over the weekend of 20th and 21st May in the Marine Court Hotel, Bangor to recognise this important anniversary of the Association.
We have planned an event which comprises presentations from photographers of international standing:
NIPA Archive - presented by Anne Cassidy (MFA FRPS FIPF AFIAP)
This is the first chance to view the 100 prints chosen to represent 50 years of NIPA from the digitised collection of over 1,700 by the Association
'Before and After' - The Wonders of Club Photography
Gabriel O'Shaughnessy (MFIAP FIPF FRPS EFIAP/b)
A presentation by one of Ireland's top photographers showing his varied collection of prints on subjects from portraiture to still life.
'Holiday Snaps' - Escape into Travel Photography
Rod Wheelans (MPAGB MFIAP FIPF) and Anne Greiner (MPAGB)
A presentation of travel photography by two of the PAGB's most celebrated photographers - and husband and wife.
'Through the Lens / Behind the Lens' - Landscape, Nature and Wildlife
Peter Cairns, Director of Northshots Photography
Peter Cairns is a nature and conservation photographer based in the Scottish Highlands with almost 20 years professional experience under his belt. Co-founder of multimedia projects such as 'Tooth & Claw', 'Wild Wonders of Europe' and '2020VISION', Peter has travelled extensively but now focuses on his home country in his new venture, 'SCOTLAND: The Big Picture'. In 'Behind The Lens. Beyond The Lens', Peter tells us about his changing photographic style but more significantly, the philosophy behind what he does and why. Against a backdrop of stunning imagery this presentation is bound to inform and inspire in equal measure.
On Sunday, three of our speakers will judge the NIPA 'Top Print and PDI' Competition - where all of the year's starred images come together to fight for NIPA's highest accolades.
At a heavily subsidised club member's price of £20, including lunch and refreshments on both days, we are sure you'll agree, this is not an event to be missed.
