About this event

Nirtyachitram — a mesmerising confluence of dance and live painting, where emotions and mudras blend on canvas. This unique performance explores the Natyashastra, India’s ancient treatise on the performing arts, through a modern, multidisciplinary lens.

Debabrata Pal brings a chapter of this timeless text to life, revealing how classical dramaturgy continues to shape contemporary dance, theatre, and storytelling. The performance combines movement, visual art, and narrative. There will also be a duet dance with special guest K. Jyotirmayee Pattnaik.

As a multidisciplinary artist from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Debabrata works across visual storytelling, theatre, design, and classical dance, particularly Odissi. Named one of India’s Top 50 Young Artistes, his work explores the intersection of tradition and innovation. Nirtyachitram is his latest research-led project, drawing inspiration from Odisha’s tribal music, classical heritage, and textile traditions.

The event will also highlight the work of The Hope Foundation (HOPE) — a Kolkata-based charity supporting street-connected and slum-dwelling children. Through 60 projects, HOPE provides access to education, healthcare, and protection, with a strong focus on joyful and cultural learning. Children regularly come together to sing, dance, and celebrate festivals
