Event Details

First Friday is all abour brain food. On the First Friday of every month we ask a speaker to join us for our team meeting. We drink beer, we eat crisps and we invite in new ideas, new people and new possibilities.

Doing this helps us capture the spirit of events like Interesting, The Story and TEDx in a small and manageable way on a regular basis.

This time we'll be joined by Leila Johnston aka @FinalBullet

Leila is a writer, maker and broadcaster based in Sheffield. Her work mixes humour with nerdiness. She's the co-creator of geek comedy podcast Shift Run Stop, a columnist for BBC Comedy, a regular contributor to Wired UK and Managing Editor of The Literary Platform. She's also written two funny books.

Her talk on 5th April at 5pm will ask:

"The Technology of the Terminator - how worried should we be?"

Leila will discuss:

  • Skynet and 'The Cloud'
  • Predestination paradoxes, Miles Dyson's microprocessor and the resilience of sperm
  • Reverse engineering the T-800: the mystery of the 8-bit auxilary memory

and more...
