Event description

Description

NNAS silver training and assessment

A 2 day course for those with some navigation experience.

Navigation in the countryside developing skills required to navigate to features and places some distance from paths and tracks, accurate compass work is required and an ability to use appropriate navigational techniques to go across country in some cases, eg. choosing an appropriate attack point.

We will meet at 9am and aim to finish for 5pm each day.
The course will last 2 days and cover the National Navigation Award Scheme Silver course syllabus. As this is a structured syllabus we will cover the whole content to ensure consistency but we can focus on specific areas of need for the group/ individuals as required.

The course will be delivered with a mix of exercises to build skills and outside navigation practice, so be prepared to be out on the hill for some of the day. Both days will be around the Dovestones area with Saturday being a mix of classroom and outdoor exercises and we will spend Sunday out on the hill practicing skills.

We will aim to be finished by 5pm each day, if we are on the hill at the end of the day we will aim to head back around 4.30pm to ensure enough time for debrief/ reflections before the end of the day.

The course will be delivered by a qualified Mountain Leader and NNAS registered tutor, Emily Thompson. Emily is also a qualified first aider.
