Shakespeare’s plays are full of powerful characters, challenging themes and exotic, magical settings – perfect for inspiring young readers and writers! But don't worry if you are not a thespian or have bad experiences of learning Shakespeare at school, this fun workshop will help you make the teaching of Shakespeare managable and fun!

Designed by teachers for teachers, this workshop will guide your staff in bringing Shakespeare’s plays to life in your school. These tried and tested ideas will take the fear out of tackling this challenging but rewarding topic.

In this practical workshop, staff will:
• Experience how Shakespeare can be made accessible for KS1 & KS2
• Get to grips with using Shakespearean language
• Explore a range of plays using drama, discussion and writing
• Receive planning materials to implement teaching across your school

Attendees will also get a free copy of 'All the World's a Stage' a resource book for teaching Shakespeare in primary schools written by Stefan and Maureen Kucharczyk with a RRP of £35.


Who is this training for?

This course has been designed for primary school teachers and subject leaders who want to introduce teaching Shakespeare into their literacy lessons or establish it as a whole school project.

How many places are there for this course?

There are 20 places for this training event. Smaller venues offer the opportunity for a more personal training experience. You get more time with Stefan and he can get to know you too!

When will the venue be confirmed?

The venue will be confirmed 4 weeks before the date of the course. It will be a high quality venue in an around Headingley, Leeds.

What time do we start and finish?

The course will start at 9.00 and will finish at 3.30 - a normal school day (without playground duty...)

What about lunch?

Lunch will be included in the price of the course. Tea, coffee, refreshments and other snacks will be available too. You will not go hungry or thirsty!

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes - that's no problem! Just be aware that catering will be organised in advance so you might have to eat what the other person has ordered if you change at the last minute!

What is the minimum number of attendees?

There is a miniumum number of 6 attendees for this course to run. Don't worry though! If it is postponed or rearranged, you will get a full refund.
