Event description

Description

This one day training course will enable participants to confidently and effectively use the ‘No Outsiders’ resources within their settings, supporting the objectives outlined in the Equality Act 2010 and sharing an inclusive curriculum with both children and parents.

  • £200 per delegate (includes a copy of the No Outsiders book)
  • £350 for two delegates from the same setting

What is ‘No Outsiders’ about?

  • • Teaching children to respect and accept difference and diversity
  • • Using the Equality Act 2010 (British Law) as a solid foundation
  • • Taking a proactive approach to bullying
  • • Reducing potential for radicalisation
    • Preparing children for life in Modern Britain
  • • Teaching "British Values"

How is it taught?

    • • 35 picture books: 5 in each year group from EYFS to Y6
    • • Picture books deal with all equalities in the Equality Act

(race, religion, gender, gender identity including transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation)

        • • Each characteristic is taught in context with British Law
        • • Creates and develops a whole school ethos

        Comments from delegates include:

‘This was truly inspirational and motivating, I thoroughly enjoyed the training with a really enthusiastic and approachable trainer.’

‘A truly brilliant training course with so many valuable resources and a real passion for educating children in modern day Britain.’

‘Today was incredibly informative and gave us many ideas about how we can embed the ‘No Outsiders’ curriculum. We are excited about starting this journey with our community.’

Recent Ofsted reports have highlighted No Outsiders as good practice:

‘Fundamental British values are actively promoted through the school’s work on ‘No outsiders in our school’, which develops pupils’ understanding of how the Equality Act relates to and affects them’ (Parkfield School, May 2016)

‘The school’s work to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding is exemplary, as is its promotion of fundamental British values. Pupils of different ages talk with passion about the school’s ‘no outsiders’ initiative that provides a focal point for the school community to explore different aspects of discrimination.’ (Summerville School, February 2017)
