Join us for the launch of NOISE + NOSTALGIA, a season of provocative, daring Post-Punk art and film. Comprising screenings, music and live events, the season features underground films and culture from the post-punk era between 1979-87 .
On the launch night you can sample industrial ambience, scratch video and provocative thinking about self and the body across 3 venues at MInerva Works: Vivid Projects, Grand Union and Centrala - and try out a special edition North Brewery Co. IPA bottled for Justin Wiggan's latest work, UNKNWNPLRSRS.
Screenings will continue 7-21 May at Vivid Projects as part of the gallery exhibition and include rare Super8 and 16mm films - unseen for a generation - digitally remastered by the BFI National Archive for the full touring programme 'This Is Now: Film and Video After Punk’, in partnership with LUX and the BFI National Archive. The continuing programme features a wide selection of artists including John Maybury, Gorilla Tapes, Richard Heslop, Isaac Julien, Sophie Muller, The Neo-Naturists, George Barber, Grayson Perry, Tim Pope, John Scarlett-Davies, John Smith, Cordelia Swann and Jill Westwood. Gallery events include live event commissions from Cathy Wade, Justin Wiggan and Nicholas Bullen ; a psychic Super8 workshop and rare film works from the Vivid archive.
