DJs - Jack de Marseille, Milan Kobar, Ben Osborne
LIVE - Cleo T (London AV Show Launch)
Legendary French DJ, Jack de Marseille, makes a rare UK appearance to launch Noise of Art and Red Gallery’s exhibition documenting the story of French electronic music from the early 20th Century until the present day.
Jack de Marseille is, alongside DJs such as Laurent Garnier, one of the great pioneers of French electronic music. He was responsible for bringing acid house and techno to the South of France. A celebrated and creative DJ, his meticulous vinyl-only sets are the stuff of clubland legend. This is an all too rare London appearance (the last was at Fabric six years ago).
The party is also a hook-up with rising French electronic music and art festival, Chateau Perché - who present French techno force and WhyWeAreHere label owner Milan Kobar. Described as a "A superhero" by La Salopette magazine, his One O One club, in his home town of Clermont Ferrand, was recognised as one of the best clubs in central France - while his percussive techno sets have seen him become a global DJ and fixture on the Parisian and Berlin party scenes.
Award winning young Parisian singer, Cleo T, first made an impact with her John Parish (PJ Harvey) produced debut LP. Tonight the she is launching her new electro LP, SHINE, and debuting her full audio visual show in London.
As well as curating the exhibition, DJ Ben Osborne has a long involvement in UK and French electronic music as a DJ, musician and writer. He is the founder of Noise of Art, has staged events in London and Paris, DJs internationally, is part of the London/ Paris WeWantSounds collective, writes about music for magazines and newspapers and has published two books.
The event launches the first exhibition of photographs, film and artwork documenting the story of French electronic music from the start of the 20th century to the present day.
