Hosted by the European Animal Research Association (EARA), this workshop is dedicated to improving the quality of NTS, obligatory in EU member states, and is aimed for those who submit or review NTS.

Why this workshop?

In a time where there is increased demand for greater transparency in animal research, EARA is championing the mission through comprehensive training sessions. These sessions intend to not only become a step forward towards fostering openness and ethical communication in biomedical research but also to meet legal obligations.

Training Highlights:

• Proactive communication: learn how you can proactively share information regarding animal use and how the EU is doing this as mandatory procedures.
• Introduction to NTS: Understanding its role, importance, and best practices as guided by the EU 2010/63 Directive and guidelines.
• Ethical Justifications and the 3Rs: Navigating the ethical landscape of animal research with a focus on Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement.
• Public Engagement: Techniques for addressing public concerns transparently using the NTS format, namely the number and characteristics of animals used in each procedure according to severity.
• Simplifying Science: Making scientific terminology accessible to the general public, using the NTS format and categories for a better understanding of animal research.
• Structuring NTS for Accessibility: Enhancing readability and engagement of NTS through graphical approaches ready for traditional and social media.
• Interactive Exercises: Hands-on sessions in breakout rooms in a group setting, designed to foster exponential learning by creating new NTS from templates and using online tools like Canva and ChatGPT.

Event Format: This workshop will be entirely online on Zoom and in English.
