Inspired by Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, this powerful drama sifts through the complexities of modern womanhood. It is set in an urban landscape, and follows the story of Nora, a young single mother whose world offers her no refuge, only judgment. She faces the endless demands of motherhood and domesticity as well as that of the workplace. This chaotic and patriarchal environment is rife with condescending colleagues, and dismissive bosses. Ignorant and judgemental gossip ensues. The nights offer no escape. Her social life exposes a reality where men see her as an object. Physical and emotional abuse are ever-present threats. She is lonely. Back home, the weight of her Bengali heritage presses down. Relatives gossip, neighbours stare, and traditions stifle her. The world sees only what it wants, never her relentless fight to provide, protect, and persevere. Will Nora find a space of her own, or will she forever remain trapped in a house she never built?
