Description

This is the fifth event to be organised by Skills Development Scotland as part of their involvement in the Scottish Government’s initiative for responding to redundancy situations, Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) and the Energy Jobs Taskforce.

At the event you can meet with employers with current vacancies and get free, impartial advice to help you:

  • look for jobs
  • take stock and consider your options
  • write CVs and prepare for interviews
  • identify learning and training opportunities
  • make the most of your money

The event has a focus on the oil and gas industry but is open to all.

Car parking will be available on the day in Car Park 4 just behind the main entrance of the venue, alternatively, there are frequent buses and ample walking routes to the venue.

10.30 – 11.15 – Update your CV

This session will show you how to create and maintain a professionally presented CV. You will learn how to sell yourself more effectively, grab the attention of the reader and get the edge over other applicants to increase your chance of being invited to interview.

This session will take you through the LinkedIn professional network structure, show you how to change settings, add contacts and update your status. You will learn how developing an effective personal profile and understanding different LinkedIn connection strategies can increase your prospects.
