A n Ecumenical Environment Conference for the North East of England
About this event
An Ecumenical Conference for churches in the North East of England looking at how we can work together to tackle the issues of Climate Change. It will look at the biblical imperative for us to Care for Creation and talk about some of the practical steps we may be able to take it, including becoming an Eco Church and joining the North East Climate Coalition.
Keynote Speakers
Sir Paul Ennals, North East of England Climate Coalition. Paul is the Convening Chair of NEECCo and the Chair of VONNE (Voluntary Organisations Network North East. He will talk about setting up the Climate Coalition, it's ambitions and how churches and individuals can help.
Rachie Ross from Operation Noah, 'What we can learn from the 5 sassy women in Exodus 1 and 2'. Rachie is an active member of Christian Climate Action and a trustee for Operation Noah. She is a theologian and therapeutic coach, and has served as a church elder and young peoples worker for over 20 years. She can be found teaching, preaching and chatting on the radio about the call to tell the truth about the earth, for the love of God. She is confused by thin theology and the way faith and lifestyles may not actually affect each other; why do we know we're living in a climate and ecological emergency, yet we fail to put our mouths and bodies on the line? She is motivated by the biblical mandate for non violent direct action and aims to put fire in our bellies and theological tools in our hands.
Ben Niblett, from Tearfund, 'Why climate change matters to the world's poorest'. Ben has worked with Tearfund since 2005 and will share how climate changes affect the poorest countries in the world
Pam Martin, on behalf of A Rocha, 'Becoming and Eco Church and gaining Eco Awards.' Pam's church has achieved a Gold Eco Church Award)
