This is the second North of England Breech Conference and a review evidence to date, as well as explore the many issues around the holistic care of women who have elected to have a vaginal breech birth. This is a multidisciplinary conference supporting women's choice of birthing a breech baby vaginally and unique UK opportunity to be taught by interrnational breech experts.
Our speakers are breech practitioners (midwives and obstetricians) and those representing choice and human rights for parents.Confirmed speakers include Dr Frank Louwen, Dr Anke Reitter, Jane Evans, Gail Tully, Dr Andrew Bisits, Johanna Rhys-Davies (from the charity Birthrites). Cathy Warwick Chief Executive from the Royal College of Midwives will Chair Day One and Mr Lawrence Impey, author of the RCOG Greentop Guideline (current and pending) will present current evidence. We will of course hear from parents and we most definately want this conference to be interactive with our delegates. This is a unique event gathering such expertise together in the UK.
The Sheffield Breech Team are 2016's Royal College of Midwives' Winners for Excellence in Maternity Care for our collaborative care for women expecting breech babies. We think this team approach is both sustainable and replicable and is highly supportive of choice and physiological birth!
The first North of England Breech Conference in 2014 was very highly evaluated.
The midwives said "Excellent, well organised conference", "learnt massive amounts", "should be mandatory for doctors and midwives".
The obstetricians said "good value", "inspirational" and "will deliver breech on all fours from now on"
The conference will be held at Sheffield Hallam University, a highly suitable conference venue.
