Description

WOW... what a great start to 2019 at our January meeting in Wrexham. Attendance was fantastic as were all of our speakers and engagement with the session was very high.

Continuing on from this, we are heading over to St Asaph this month to visit our friends at the North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team. We have some great speakers lined up for you and are looking forward as always to catching up with everybody and enjoying a cup of tea and some biscuits...

Firstly we will be hearing from Les Pritchard, Neterix. Les works with a wide range of companies and charities, helping them to secure their networks, data and improve staff awareness. With a background in both technical security and information security, he helps organisations implement security solutions and achieve compliance.

The way organisations use technology has changed considerably over recent years with the adoption of cloud services. Whilst this shift has brought many benefits, it also introduces new risks that traditional security models struggle to prevent. This talk will discuss some of the most common risks using real case studies of companies who have been caught out. Les will also provide some live demos to help illustrate how data can be put at risk. The talk will conclude with a look at some of the steps that can be taken to help manage these risks and secure your data.

In addition, we will also be recieving an update from Peter Jarvis, Detective Sergeant at the North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team, about what h eand his team have been doing over the last few months including the joint work they are doing with TITAN (North West Regional Organised Crime Unit) and will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have for the team in an open Q&A session

As always, I look forward to seeing you all there and if you have any questions, dont hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks,

Jason

The aims of the North Wales Cyber Security Cluster are two-fold:-

  • To support the members of the cluster by communicating National and International initiatives and trade opportunities, providing a networking platform to share ideas and best practice, encouraging collaboration and identifying partnership opportunities so that small cyber security specialist businesses in Wales can find new ways to grow.
  • To support the Welsh Government's commitment to Cyber Security (and UK Government's Cyber Security Strategy) by building cyber security knowledge, skills and capabilities in the Region, to make businesses more resilient to cyber attacks and the Region one of the most secure places in the world to do business.

These meetings are free to attend for any small business with an interest in cyber security so if you, as a person or organisation are interested in finding out what Government initiatives can offer and exploring what you can offer to support the UK Cyber Security Strategy in North Wales then please contact us.
