Event description

Description

Daventry Country Park offers a wealth of foraging habitats. It's a great place to learn about edible plants and fungi growing all around us in the UK in autumn.

This foraging course walk is easy to reach from Northampton, Kettering, Milton Keynes, Rugby, Bletchley, Banbury, Brackley and Buckingham. In this park, which holds a Green Flag Award, you will discover how to identify some commonly growing foods to forage for, how to avoid poisonous lookalikes, and hints on where to look.

When we meet up, we will go through laws and safety points of foraging before heading out to discover the wild food in the area. The course includes:
  • an overview of foraging laws and safety best practice
  • exploration of the venue
  • introduction to a number of edible species
  • instruction on how to tell edible species apart from poisonous lookalikes
  • tips on harvesting
  • information on where to find these species again
  • recipe ideas
  • wild food treats to sample
  • digital information sheet sent after the course

Pre-made wild food tasters and preserves to try along the way can include soups, cordials, jams, pickles, herb salts, syrps, ferments, pestos or vinegars.

Exact meeting location given a few days before event.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.

Participants on this course must be aged 18 years or older.
