Event description

Northern Gas Networks distribute gas to homes and businesses across the north of England, an area covering the North East, northern Cumbria and most of Yorkshire. Northern Gas Networks do not own the gas but transport it on behalf of the companies who do, delivering it to users 24 hours every day.

The challenge

Northern Gas Networks are looking to explore opportunities to utilise established, emerging and yet to be discovered technology to develop and build smart infrastructure.

This could include:

  • Water ingress – detection of the presence of moisture or water in the gas network and indication of potential travel

  • Pressure – detection of pressure in the gas network

  • Asset positional information – confirmation of the position of gas network features i.e. valves

  • Equipment use information – detection of usage of equipment i.e. Road breaker/Air lance

  • Gas flow – identification of gas flow behaviour in the gas network

  • Gas leakage – detection of leakage on the gas network

  • Gas composition – conformation of the composition of gas (Calorific Value)

Who should attend?

  • Companies and individuals currently developing and deploying sensor technologies

  • Those looking to diversify their business into the IoT space

  • Companies supplying data-driven services

  • Companies and individuals with innovative ideas to solve challenges

Why Attend?
