Event description

Description

This talk will be given by Dr Anne Anderson. Scandinavian countries emerged during the 19th century as a powerful force on the European art scene. Bertel Thorvaldsen, sculptor, was the first Dane to acquire international status and Vilhelm Hammershoi is regarded as ‘Denmark’s Vermeer.’ It was Danish design, however, that gained international standing in the twentieth century.
