Event description

Description

Join the TUC for our Bi-Monthly Disability Forum, bringing together trade union reps, officers and members who face disabilities or who play an active role within their workplace to campaign or give a voice to workers with disabilities.

The aim of the forum is to coordinate and support disabilities campaigning within the Trade Union movement in the region and plan joint activities across Trade Unions and workplaces to raise awareness around disabilities issues. (Please note you must be a trade union rep, officer or member to attend)

We will be arranging refreshments and a light bite to eat on Monday 9th October between 5pm and 7pm, TUC, Unite Building, John Dobson Street, Newcastle, NE1 8TW.

The last forum was an engaging and lively meeting, hearing a presentation about the current work of the TUC around tackling disabilities discrimination and the work of trade unions and groups around the region. We also began to plan an annual programme of disabilities campaigning and activity and fed in ideas for a regional equalities conference.

At October’s forum we would like to continue to pick up conversations around the annual programme and the development of an equalities conference, alongside hearing from induvial unions and activists around their disabilities campaigning work. There will also be opportunities to hear about how you can get more involved with the TUC and what support and information we can offer.

Places are limited so please RSVP by Thursday 5th October to confirm your attendance here https://disabilitiesforumtuc.eventbrite.co.uk
