Northern Writers' Awards: Early Career Writers' Roadshow

Hosted by New Writing North in partnership with Writers' Block North East

Confirmed speakers: writer and editor Richard T Kelly, literary agent Rebecca Jones, novelist Shelley Day, novelist Andrew Crumey

This roadshow is for writers who are beginning to write and are looking ahead at constructing a writing career. Particular advice will be offered about finding outlets for your work through magazine publication, prizes and other outlets for short stories, and we will discuss how you go about developing a great idea into a novel. We will explain how the Northern Writers’ Awards can support new writers to develop their work and encourage them to find belief in their writing, as well as how courses, writing groups and other networks can help.

The evening will also incorporate an audience Q&A session on the Northern Writers’ Awards and other opportunities.

The Northern Writers' Awards 2017 open for entry on 30 November 2016 until 2 February 2017. The awards identify writing talent and support writers to complete work-in-progress towards publication or broadcast. They are open to writers at all stages of their careers, based in the North of England, and awards can include mentoring, development opportunities and cash awards.
