Event description

Description

Hosted by New Writing North and University of Sunderland

The Writing Fiction Roadshow will include sessions on the author-agent relationship, finding outlets for new fiction and essential advice for anyone considering applying for the Northern Writers’ Awards and other opportunities. Confirmed speakers include the novelist Carmen Marcus, leading agent Rachel Conway from Georgina Capel Associates, and Northern Writers' Awards winners Dima Alzayat and Iain Rowan. Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring your own lunch.

A limited number of one-to-one sessions are available to pre-book. If you’re interested in a advisory chat with a literary agent, please complete the form here. You must have booked for the event to be allocated a one-to-one session. On the form, you will be asked to provide:
o A short synopsis of the novel or short-fiction collection you’re working on
o 500 words of the opening chapter
We will be closing the form on Monday 5 November and will allocate one-to-one sessions by Friday 9 November.

The Northern Writers' Awards are produced by New Writing North with support from Northumbria University, Arts Council England and a range of industry partners. The awards support work-in-progress by writers based in the North of England. You can apply for an award between 15 November 2018 and 7 February 2019. Find out more here.
