Welcome to the NorthWest UK RNA Salon happening at The University of Manchester (Michael Smith Building) on September 17, 2025 at 12:30 PM (Europe/London). Join us for an exciting day filled with discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities centered around RNA research. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a curious student, this event is perfect for anyone interested in the world of RNA. Don't miss out on this chance to connect with like-minded individuals and expand your knowledge in a welcoming and engaging environment. We can't wait to see you there!

Our keynote speaker will be prof. Niki Gray (University of Edinburgh): Cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein function, and roles in health and disease.

Niki works on how mRNAs are regulated at the level of translation and the consequences of their misregulation. She studies specific RNA-binding proteins that bind to poly(A) tails (PABs) and examines their role across a diverse array of conditions, including infertility, stillbirth, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), cardiovascular dysfunction and diet-induced obesity.

Niki has a range of prominent roles in the RNA academic community, including roles on BBSRC funding committees and at the Biochemical Society.

Other speakers:

Dr. Ufuk Ersoy (Simon Tew group, University of Liverpool)

Dr. Niall Kenneth (PI, University of Liverpool)

Yuan Tian (final year PhD student, Matthias Soller lab, University of Manchester)
