Event description

Description

Freemen and their families are invited to a family picnic as part of the Freemen700 celebrations.

Family members probably know you are a freeman, but might not be sure what it means or involves.
Now, for the first time they have a chance to join you and other freemen and their families at an event to celebrate the 700th anniversary.

Meet at Chapelfield Gardens (NR2 1NY) at 9.45am (leaving at 10am) to attend a walking tour of Norwich around a route which takes in various points of interest which have connections with the Freemen of Norwich.

11.30am – a peal of bells will be rung at St Peter Mancroft church

12.00 noon – Service at St Peter Mancroft lasting 45 minutes

12.45ish – walk to Chapelfield Gardens to have a picnic alongside other freemen and their families.

All Freemen and their families are welcome.

You can also buy merchandise at the Forum shop including a mug, magnet, mustard, pin badge and tie.

“This is a great family day and a great opportunity to involve friends and family, and of course the next generation of freemen,” says Nigel Back, chair of the Freemen’s Committee.

Here’s hoping for good weather!
