About this event

Not If But When:

Lessons Learned & Protecting your Org from Cyber Attacks

Led by : Anthony Morris, Third Sector Lead at the Cyber Resilience Unit, Scottish Government

Guest Speakers: Jordan Schroeder, Managing CISO, Barrier Networks and Keith McDevitt, Cyber Security Integrator, Scottish Government

26% of charities reported a cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months (increasing to 51% of high-income charities) and, whilst four in ten charities update their senior management at least quarterly, there is still much to be done to improve cyber resilience within the sector.

“Start from the position of it IS happening! When it happens what do we as an organisation have in place to minimise disruption?” - Lee Cramp, Deputy Director and Data Protection Officer, Department of Health and Social Care

We are delighted to be joined by Jordan a world-leading and award-winning cybersecurity risk and resiliency expert with over 15 years of sector-agnostic security leadership and Keith who has significant experience in the Cyber Resilience Unit. Jordan and Keith will share their wealth of experience to show you what a modern attack looks like, how to safely lead a digital organisation and what your IT department wishes the board knew.

This session will help you regarding not only the preventative measures to avoid a cyber attack, but what do you, as the Chair or Vice Chair of an organisation need do if an attack happens. We will hear a real-life scenario in which a charity was the victim of a cyber attack, what steps did they take following the attack and what can you do to prevent your organisation falling victim to the same type of attack.

Join us to ensure you are better informed to best protect your organisation and its stakeholders.

This event is part of Trustees Week and in relation to several of the five core principles of the Governance Code. It is open to Chairs/Vice Chairs of Scottish Voluntary organisations.
