This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences and presents new research from Professor Stephen Pudney and new research from Age UK using Understanding Society data, followed by a panel discussion with policy experts.

The Age UK presentations by Professor Asghar Zaidi and Professor José Iparraguirre will look at levels of wellbeing – emotional and financial – amongst the older population, using data from Understanding Society.

The panel discussion after the presentations will be chaired by Sophie Andrews, CEO of the Silver Line and the panellists will include

• Claire Turner, Director for Evidence at the Centre for Ageing Better,

• Janet Morrison, Chief Executive at Independent Age

• Nicholas Hellen, Social Affairs Editor of the Sunday Times.

• Dr Charles Alessi, Senior Advisor, Public Health England
