About this event

Business • Design

This course is designed for Motion Graphics or 3D Designers. If you're a Media Server & Video Professional we're running a different course on the same week which is probably better suited to your needs.

Whether you are designing for the smallest or largest canvases, this Notch training course empowers you to create compelling motion graphics and visual effects. Over two days, you'll learn to navigate the Notch interface and master core techniques in compositing, lighting, materials, and animation. You'll develop practical skills for implementing creative design concepts. On Day 2, you'll expand your capabilities with advanced rendering options and dynamic effects systems. By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence to produce compelling visual content across a range of production environments.

Day 1 Summary

Day 1 lays the groundwork with a guided interface walkthrough, followed by key techniques in video compositing, 3D and lighting. You’ll explore materials and texture mapping, then dive into creating dynamic animations using modifiers alongside traditional keyframes. The day includes hands-on experience with particle systems for visual effects and concludes with practical knowledge of supported file formats and export options.

Day 2 Summary

Day 2 takes your skills further across a range of creative topics. You'll learn how to manipulate geometry with deformers, creatively iterate objects using cloner systems and build complex particle effects integrated with physics. The day also covers smoke and fire simulations using fields, procedural mesh creation, and concludes with an understanding of how various Notch systems work together to deliver creative and visually stunning graphics matching your client's brief and (ever more challenging) timelines.

Please come equipped with a PC laptop or desktop meeting Notch's minimum requirements.

At the end of the first day's training, we'll head to a local bar/pub for some drinks and nibbles.
