Notes on a Landscape - An introduction to using a sketchbook
Sat 13 May 2017, 09:30 – 12:30 BST
This relaxed half day experience is a chance to look at a variety of sketchbooks by different artists and designers, to think about what a sketchbook is and what it is for. Everyone will be given a good quality sketchbook to start their sketchbook journey.
The workshop is situated in a beautiful North Staffordshire valley; the Caldon Canal leads away from The Potteries towards Leek and the Churnet Valley, sloping fields of wild flowers and an old oak wood are just outside the building where the workshop is held. There will be time to do some sketching outside after some experimentation and trying out of different materials. Individual guidance from Mark and Louise will inspire you to enjoy this creative morning, whether you want to record the world around you, work out ideas, or simply delight in the colours and textures of your favourite media. Sketchbooks are a wonderful place to try things out, put down random thoughts and discover new ideas.
This workshop will be the founding of The Stockton Brook Studios Sketchbook club; a great opportunity for you to join a creative community as founder members.
Included in the price is a good quality A4 sketchbook, all refreshments and home made cake.
Materials for drawing, painting and different sorts of mark making will be available, and do please bring your own.
