The Nottingham Roosevelt - Virtual Thanksgiving Event 2020

We are inviting you to join us online at a special, virtual event in celebration of the incredible things we have achieved together in the scholarship’s 70th year, despite much adversity.

Following the success of our previous Thanksgiving event, we are pleased to invite you to a special Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday 25th November, 6pm – 7pm, via Zoom.

We are thrilled to announce this will include keynote speeches from previous scholars Nick Beighton, CEO of ASOS, and Chris Aylett, Chief Executive of the Motorsport Industry Association.

You will also hear directly from our Chairman, Mick Burrows, who has been at the helm for four years and will share plans for the future of the scholarship. In addition, our recently returned 2020 Mayflower Scholar, Tom Cable, will talk us through his journey, discussing both what motivated and challenged him. We will welcome those who would like to ask questions.

Further to our stellar event line up, we are also excited to share information about a new fundraising opportunity available to scholarship donors this year. It is a fantastic new initiative for 2020 that will match fund £1,000 of donations to the scholarship made between now and the new year.

Since its inception in 1949, the Scholarship has provided an opportunity for 150 young professionals from a broad range of industries and professions to visit the USA, with the aim of sharing knowledge and culture to the benefit of the Scholar, their employer and Nottinghamshire.

Over the years the Roosevelt family has directly supported and given their personal time to the scholarship, including Eleanor Roosevelt and Haven Roosevelt, who both hosted Scholars in the USA and visited Nottingham.
