Nottingham Symphony Orchestra - Open rehearsal
Date and time
NSO invites you to an Open Rehearsal featuring invited soloist Anthony Thompson (trumpet/flugelhorn)
About this event
Programme
- Nicklin: Concertino for Trumpet & Flugelhorn (Soloist - Andrew Thompson)
- Borodin: Symphony No. 2
With the next main NSO concert on Saturday 9th July (click here for details), the orchestra is taking a couple of weeks during May to work on some different repertoire. NSO has not performed Borodin's Symphony No 2 for a very long time, but this piece proved very popular with members during the 'on-line play-along' whilst we were in COVID lock down.
NSO also has a long association with Andrew Nicklin, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to play through his Concertino for Trumpet & Flugelhorn which has been written for Anthony Thompson. Anthony is currently principal trumpet with Sinfonia ViVa, but also works as a soloist and session musician - see www.anthonythompsontrumpet.com
NSO invites you to attend the rehearsal on Monday May 16th from 8.30 pm, when we will perform the Concertino and some movements from the Borodin Symphony. There are only 50 tickets available, so book now! This is a free event, but we hope that you will consider making a donation to our Fundraising appeal for the Derek Williams 40th Anniversary Concert
