Three individual but intertwined stories in which Beirut residents try to manage their love lives and desires without breaking any of their religious rules. Awatef, middle aged mum of two girls, is recruiting a second wife to help her satisfy her overly loving husband – will she live to regret her decision? The young and excessively jealous Mokhtar needs to find his ex-wife another man to marry so he will be able to marry her again - for the 4th time. Loubna, freshly divorced and being judged from all sides of society, can finally marry her true love, or will she go and join her brother in Australia instead?
“Amusing and subtly provocative, Halal Love (and Sex) is a strong addition to the Lebanese film canon.” The Guardian
The evening concludes with a post-screening Q+A discussion with director Assad Fouladkar.
