About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Join us on Sunday August 10th 2025 at 6pm immersed in nature in Beechwood Hall, just a stone's throw away from Lewes, for a nourishing and heart-opening Singing Circle!

We'll start with a luscious and healing cup of Cacao, to help open the Heart and soften. Through a heart-centered meditation, we'll set our intentions for the evening and the year ahead, then gently awaken and open our voices before settling into the main part of the evening: a beautiful, sacred Singing Circle. We’ll sing a variety of music with sacred roots, bhajan, mantras and also some original music.

This event is hosted by Sonia Ter Hovanessian (singer, flautist and coach), who will offer her music, voice, guidance and Heart to the event. She is blessed to be in a beautiful collective of musicians who often come and provide their voices, musicality and support to these events. Supporting with music and his gentle heart is Nicola Lionello and with her angelic harmonies, Emma Coley.

If you have instruments and would like to bring them along, please do and if you'd like to share any music, that would also be most welcome. If you would like to come but don't feel up to singing yourself and wish to just enjoy being surrounded by singing and music, that is also absolutely fine.

Whether you are new to singing or a seasoned vocalist, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore the profound benefits of singing, the voice and music in a supportive and nurturing environment.

With everything going on in the world, it can feel overwhelming and perhaps not clear how we can help. Coming together in prayer is, for me, one way of staying grounded and bringing love and connection to our communities, and praying for World Peace.

Sonia Ter Hovanessian:

Sonia is a musician, singer, flautist, singer-songwriter, and coach. She has a background in classical and jazz music. She has studied under numerous teachers and as a coach uses a blend of EVT (Estill Voice Technique), jazz improvisation and intuitive heart-centered techniques.

Her own journey with the voice has been far from easy, though. Growing up she suffered from nodules on her vocal cords, preventing her from even speaking at times. Despite receiving speech therapy, her true healing came only when she began studying under the guidance of a vocal coach. And through the beauty and power of singing she dove deep into the voice, all whilst healing deep emotional wounds through therapy, which were probably the root cause of the dysphonia. This led her to embrace her voice fully and become the sensitive and heartfelt singer she is today.

This journey, along with her discovering medicine music, sacred chants and mantras in more recent years, along with her own spiritual awakening led her to a renewed understanding of the importance of music and especially the voice in our everyday life, for inner healing, and to bring joy and connection to the world. She is currently studying Integral Sound Healing with the Voice at the Sound Healing Academy.
