About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

London-based writer and curator Charlie Porter discusses his debut work of fiction, Nova Scotia House, in conversation with Ryan J.Smith.

Intimate, visionary, and original, the novel takes us to the heart of a relationship, a community and a lost era. It is both a love story and a lament; bearing witness to the enduring pain of the AIDS pandemic and honouring the joys and creativity of queer life.

Charlie Porter has written for the Financial Times, the Guardian, The New York Times, GQ, Luncheon, i-D and Fantastic Man, and published two books about art and fashion, What Artists Wear and Bring No Clothes. He co-runs the London queer rave Chapter 10, and is a trustee of the Friends of Arnold Circus, where he is also a volunteer gardener.
