In this session, Nadine Matheson and Melanie Abrahams will be in conversation about mentors and mentoring, including looking at the ways that a mentor can provide support, career insights, motivation, and a focus on you and your needs, and tips on how you can look to source one. The last section will include a discussion on how we can all support our wellbeing and self-care in changing times.
A forerunner in the UK arts industry, Melanie Abrahams has been furthering the art of literature, poetry, and spoken word, for over 17 years.She’s founder of independent organisations Renaissance One and Tilt, which make regular use of live events, tours and commissions to highlight the diverse canons of British and international literature.
As an active freelancer in the creative industries, she consistently pushes for greater diversity in the arts, with a focus on narratives of race, class, mixed-race identities and intersectionality.
Nadine Matheson has always been passionate about writing and storytelling. She was born and lives in London and is a Criminal Solicitor.
In 2016, she won the City University Crime Writing Competition and completed the Creative Writing (Crime/Thriller Novels) MA at City University of London with Distinction in 2018.
Her crime novel, The Jigsaw Man, will be published by HQ on 18 March 2021.
Nadine offers bespoke mentoring sessions for writers to help them with their works in progress.
This mentoring workshop will be followed by a Q&A session.
