Multiple Dates
November 10th Pinhole selfie and solargraph workshop.
Event Information
Description
What you will make
In this two hour morning or afternoon workshop you will make a pinhole camera and use it to create an ‘Awfullogramme selfie’. A ‘self portrait' technique invented by Justin, resulting in a selfie undistorted by lenses!
We will then adapt the camera so you leave with a camera which can take a solargraph image of the sun crossing the sky over 5 months.
Description of activities
The pinhole camera will be made from found materials and loaded with light sensitive paper. After exposing the paper, you will develop the image in darkroom chemistry lit by a red light, enabling the participant to magically view the image appearing. After viewing the image in positive, you will adapt your camera to enable it to be installed at home to make a 5 month image of the sun.
Skill level
The workshop will be fine for people with no experience in photography before, although all children below 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age for the workshop is 8 years old.
