User Vision, in association with the international UXQB, are now offering the professional 3-day UX certification program covering user experience methods and theories. The training is delivered by User Vision and independently assessed/certified by iSQI.

Developed by the International Usability and User Experience Qualification Board (UXQB), the Certified Professional in User Experience Foundation (CPUX-F) is an international qualification for individuals who are professionally involved in developing or ensuring the usability or user experience of products.

Who is the certification for?

The foundation level certification is appropriate for anyone who works in UX or who wants to become familiar with the basics of usability, for example product managers, software developers and designers of all interactive systems that have a user interface.

The course is relevant for UX professionals who wish to:

ensure that your knowledge of usability and user experience is completely up to date
prove your knowledge of usability, user experience and user-centred design
acquire knowledge and skills that follow the established best practice for user-centered design

The certification gives you the qualification needed to advance to the higher certificates in the areas of usability testing (CPUX-UT) and user requirements engineering (CPUX-UR).

What will I learn on the course?

The course curriculum and certification programme is developed by the International Usability and User Experience Qualification Board (UXQB), a consortium of international experts in usability and user experience. The CPUX-F training and certification exam covers the fundamentals of usability and user experience in the areas of:

Usability principles and guidelines
Understanding and defining the context of use: procedures for analysis, observation, interview, personas, scenarios, user groups
Learning how to gather and specify user requirements
Describing user interaction: design, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, dialogue principles, heuristics, guidelines, best practice in error messaging
Usability Testing and other evaluation methods: step-by-step approach in running a usability test, typical errors, heuristic evaluation, questionnaires
Managing the user-centred design process and applying UX methods: Process Model for user-centered design, UX roles in an organization

Course modules and prices

The course consists of three modules and extends over three days:

Module 1: UX Course - 2-day classroom course

29 February: 09:00 - 17:00

1 March: 09:00 - 17:00
Module 2: Crash Course - Half-day intensive review of the entire curriculum and rehearsal certification test

2 March: 09:00 - 12:15
Module 3: Certification - Test and certification

2 March: 13:00 - 14:30

You can also prepare yourself completely on your own (only taking module 3), you will find the syllabus (curriculum) on the UXQB website.

Certification Test

In order to gain certification, you must pass the 75 minute test that consists of 40 multiple choice questions. To pass, you must score at least 28 points out of the 40 possible. See an example of a complete certification test.

The examination is independantly provided and evaluated by The International Software Quality Institute (iSQI) the leading worldwide provider of certification examinations.

About the Trainer

The course is delivered by Chris Rourke, Founder and CEO of User Vision. Chris has delivered user experience services for over 20 years in a variety of consultancy roles with clients from many different industries. In addition to the many projects within User Vision, Chris has participated in the Comparative User Experience Evaluations designed by Rolf Molich to assess the comparative effectiveness and accuracy of core user experience research methods such as uability testing and expert evaluations.

The following cancellation policy applies to all bookings made:

30 days or more before training - full refund or attend a future course date
15-29 days prior to training - 50% refund
7-14 days prior to training - 25% refund
6 days or less prior to training - no refund

You are most welcome to send a substitute for the originally booked delegate at any time by notifying us of their details. User Vision reserves the right to cancel all or parts of the course if an insufficient number of people register for the course.
