Modelling the Mind
This month we welcome this fascinating interactive workshop from Dr. Syed Azmatullah.
"Many of the challenges that we face today are complex multi-faceted issues which can be difficult to disentangle leaving us with the feeling that we don’t really ‘know our own mind’. This can be true both at the individual and collective level.
Recent insights from the neurosciences have enabled us to identify many specialist functions and processes that together drive our performance and adapt our behaviour to successfully meet new challenges. We may think of these different functions as if they are departments within an organization working together to meet corporate goals. Each of us will have developed our functional systems in different ways according to our past needs.
In this month's workshop you will be guided as to how to identify your own most strongly developed functional system and will be invited to role-play this system in a dynamic constellation of mental functions. In this ‘mind mosaic’ you will then debate a controversial subject using a similar hierarchical committee structure as found in the brain and major corporate organisations.
- Gain an enhanced appreciation of the range of mental functions that contribute to your performance;
- See how your problem solving capabilities may be enhanced and your perspectives broadened by strengthening the contribution from less dominant functions;
- Understand how you and management teams can be strengthened to cover all of the functional bases in your constellation to an optimum level for the challenges being faced.
You will as a Coach be able to disentangle the contributions from the different functional systems so that you can work directly with the key influencers of future performance".
