November GAS First Friday Fling (FFF): Messages from the Other Side

By Grampian Association of Storytellers (GAS)

Overview

Join us for a spooky evening of psychic readings and ghostly messages at our November GAS First Friday Fling (FFF): Messages from the Other

Welcome to the November GAS First Friday Fling (FFF): Messages from the Other Side event!

Across time and space, humans have told stories that send shivers down our spines — tales that stir our fears, offer comfort, or explore what we imagine lies beyond the veil, whether that frontier is death or what we call reality. Some even try to exorcise our terrors with humour.

Join the Grampian Association of Storytellers (GAS) for our monthly gathering — the First Friday Fling — as we share these supernatural stories by the fireside, in a space that seems made to cradle such tales: the Gothic-style salon recreated within the Fear and Fascination exhibition, in the heart of the University of Aberdeen’s Sir Duncan Rice Library.

What to Bring:
Traditional supernatural tales, stories based on personal experiences, poems, or songs that explore the unknown. Or simply come along and enjoy listening.

🌍 Languages:
Stories in languages other than English, Doric, or Gaelic are welcome — please contact us in advance if so, so we can provide a printed English version for the audience.

Story Length: Please keep your story to no more than 15 minutes.
🕯️ Dress Code: Gothic, Samhain, Halloween, Día de los Muertos — all kinds of supernatural attire are welcome (though not required).
Admission: Drop-in; strictly for those over 16 years old
Hosted by: Anna Fancett and Arantxa García de Sola, on behalf of the Grampian Association of Storytellers (GAS)
Refreshments: Beverages and little treats will be served during the break

Our most sincere thanks to the University of Aberdeen — University Collections for their kind collaboration. You can find more information about the Fear and Fascination exhibition at: https://exhibitions.abdn.ac.uk/university-collections/exhibits/show/fear/intro
