Event description
This course is for persons wishing to work in amenity or arboriculture activities or on forestry commission land

About this Event

Description

This course will prepare people for roles that will involve felling small trees safely and accurately, removing branches, crosscutting stems, stacking timber and taking down hung up trees with hand tools. You must be fit to undertake this training and be 19 years of age or over. Felling courses are held off campus at a suitable felling site.

This course is pre-requisite to other chainsaw and arboriculture courses, such as:

• Felling Trees over 380mm

• Aerial Cutting of Trees Using Free Fall Techniques

You will need to bring: All PPE and equipment necessary to the course. PPE & Equipment list will be sent by email after booking or on request.

Entry Requirements

You must hold a Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross cutting Certificate (CS30) prior to attending this course. NPTC will not allow assessment on Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm until Maintenance and Crosscutting has been passed.

Assessment

This course leads to a City & Guilds Level 2 Award 0020-04 via a competency assessment carried out by the NPTC. Once you have completed the training course, you will be contacted by the NPTC to arrange a convenient time and location for your assessment (assessment is not carried out on the day of the course). If you would like to discuss this further please contact the NPTC directly on 01603 731250 or email NPTC@ccn.ac.uk.

NPTC - Disabilities and Access Arrangements

Please inform us immediately, if you have not already done so, of any disabilities that may disadvantage you in successful completion of your assessment; for example, if you have dyslexia or English is not your first language, or any mild disability which may require you to have some assistance.

Under guidance from C&G we are able to make access arrangements for some learners to demonstrate their competence under assessment, without changing the demands of that assessment. Examples of access arrangements include: readers, scribes, extra time, or modified assessment material.

However, as Certificates of Competence are vocational qualifications, candidates must achieve all the required units to gain a full qualification, and the awarding body will not make adjustments to the required competence standards.

As an example, product labels detail essential information, and it is of paramount importance that a candidate is able to read and interpret this information to comply with legislative and operational requirements. If the candidate is unable to read and/or interpret a product label without assistance then they will not be deemed competent to practice, as if such a person were working without supervision in the workplace, there is the potential for serious incident to occur.

If you would like to discuss this further or make access arrangements for your assessment please contact the NPTC directly on 01603 731250 or email NPTC@ccn.ac.uk.
