Peninsula Teaching School Partnership: Accessing high quality CPD to support career progression

The Peninsula Teaching School Partnership has been accredited as an Appropriate Body for the registration of NQTs to continue to support staff during the early part of their teaching careers and beyond. We offer a comprehensive support package to meet the needs of schools and help develop highly effective NQTs, bridging the gap from the ITT year.

Outstanding teachers with a proven track record of supporting NQTs to become highly successful and reflective practitioners within the school setting lead our programmes of support. Our Bold Beginnings package offers training sessions as well as opportunities to network and share best practice with other NQTs in Cornwall.

As part of the NQT Appropriate Body work, NQTs will have 2 monitoring observations to quality assurance outcomes in relation to teaching and learning, progress and behaviour management. A representative from the Appropriate Body will jointly observe the NQT’s practice with the school’s Induction Tutor, usually during the autumn and summer terms.

The full package includes 3 half-day sessions for NQTs. These will focus on:

Conference 1: 02/10/18 1:30pm-4:30pm venue: Penrice Academy

Focus - Behaviour for Learning. Creating a climate for learning and behaviour management

Conference 2: 05/02/19 1:30pm-4:30pm venue: The Atlantic Centre Newquay

Focus - Streamed sessions

Conference 3: 14/05/19 1:30pm-4:30pm venue: Penrice Academy

Focus - Assessment for Learning

Plus: The 2 monitoring observations of the NQT’s teaching to standardise assessments

In addition to this excellent CPD to support career progression, Peninsula Teaching School Partnership will manage the relevant verification and administrative processes for each NQT. This includes:

  • Registering the NQT with the Teaching Agency/NCTL

  • Maintaining and collating records and assessment reports for each assessment period

  • Working with the Head teacher/NQT Induction Tutor of the school to assess the NQT’s

    performance against the Teachers’ Standards

  • Informing the Teaching Agency of the final decision

  • 2 On-site visits for NQTs to quality assure internal process and to provide external validation of judgements

Sessions are delivered by experts from across the Teaching School Alliance.

The cost for each participant is £350 or £649 for two NQTs in one school setting. Flexible pricing is available for schools with 3 NQTs or more; please contact us for details/ pricing structures.
