Event description

Description

This free seminar is designed to provide the tools you need when talking to others in your faith community about the Nuclear Ban Treaty.

At the UN in July, 123 nations agreed a treaty that will ban nuclear weapons. None of the nine nuclear weapons states attended the negotiations. Indeed, the UK government refused to participate and issued a statement attacking the treaty.

The treaty makes provision for these nations to sign up and work towards compliance on an agreed time-bound plan.

All religious and faith-based communities in the nuclear weapons states have a responsibility to inform themselves on the issues and arguments and how best to engage with national decision makers at this critical moment.

This seminar will give you the resources to have more productive conversations about the issues. It will give you the opportunity to work through the moral and practical arguments on the ethics of nuclear deterrence and will explore the common actions different faiths can take.
