Join us in Shaw Wood and allow yourself to be Nurtured by Nature

Our sessions take place in the beautiful woodland where you will be welcomed by Bonnie and Kyla from Woodland Connections.

Whether you are feeling the stress and strain of life, you enjoy a dose of nature well-being to keep on top of feeling good, or you just enjoy being in the great outdoors, this day in the woods is for you.

These Nurtured by Nature Days are flexible to suit your needs and interests. You are welcome to arrive in the morning and stay for the whole day or just come to one or two parts of the day. Please read the following information about what is included. The ticket price is the same for however much of the day you join.

(Please note that there is no toilet in these woodlands. We will bring a camping toilet, or go natural with a wild wee behind a tree!)

The day will be split into 3 different elements.

Element 1: Forest Bathing, for moments of calm. Aim to arrive by 9:50 to begin at 10am. We will enjoy a purposefully slow and gentle wander with invitations to try a variety of nature connection activities along the way. Research shows that Forest Bathing has numerous physical and psychological benefits. From reducing blood pressure and improving cardiovascular health to lowering feelings of stress and anxiety. The walk ends back at the car park where you might want to head home, or stay with us for element 2.

Element 2: Woodland Friendship Food. If you are joining us for this part of the day, please aim to arrive by 11:50 ready to head to the woodland circle at 12pm. Gathering and preparing and enjoying food together has a real sense of community, people have done it for millions of years! It is a place where we can get to know each other, connect and friendships can be forged amongst the tranquil woodland.

You are welcome to bring your own food if you prefer, but we will be making simple meals to cook, share and enjoy together. You may choose to stay for the final element of the day, or make your way home after lunch is finished.

Element 3: Have-a-Go Afternoon, Connect and Reflect. If you are joining us for this part of the day, please aim to arrive at the car park by 1:15 so that we are ready to begin at 1:30pm. In the afternoons we will offer some nature crafts or woodland activities to have a go at. Learning new skills and having fun is the aim. The plan is to also offer this part of the day up for participants to share their own skills and interests with others if you would like to. We will support you in doing that so please contact us if this is something you would like to do. Before the day ends we will take time to reflect. This will be done in different ways which support your sense of wellness.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find you?

The best way to get to our meeting point is by using the what3words app on your phone with eggplants.scrum.slugs There will also be directions included in your booking confirmation email, so please do refer to these.

Where can I park?

There is a limited parking through the metal gate. If this is full there is a layby a short distance from the entrance or kerbside parking outside of the gate. Any parking in these areas is at your own risk.

Does the session go ahead in bad weather?

The only weather that would make us cancel is high winds, lightening storms or snow which prevents people from travelling down the country lanes. We do go ahead in rain. Whilst at the circle area for food, we can put up a large tarp to shelter under. Just remember to dress for the weather!

What should I wear?

Sturdy footwear is a must for the uneven and often muddy paths. A waterproof is always a good idea. In winter wear several warm layers. In warmer weather long sleeves and trousers are always advisable. Even in summer it can feel cooler in the woods.

Why is there a ticket charge if this is funded by National Lottery Community Fund?

We have to show that these sessions can continue after the funding ends. The money from tickets combined with fundraising money will go towards continuing provision for future sessions as well as resources needed. We are grateful for your support in this.

Can I get a refund if I cancel?

There are no refunds with less than 7 days notice. Your £20 ticket includes an Eventbrite booking fee of £1.98. We are unable to refund this booking fee unless we cancel the session. If we cancel we will give an alternative date. If you cannot attend that date a full refund will be given.

I can't attend the full day, can I still come?

Yes, you are welcome to attend part of the day. If you are arriving after we start at 10am please let us know in advance by email: info@woodlandconnections.org We can then let you know where to find us once you arrive. If possible, come for the second or third element start times. See agenda.

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, but no. We love dogs and many people walk their dogs in the woods but unfortunately we do not have dogs at our sessions.

Any other questions?

If there is something that we haven't answered please do get in touch, we are happy to answer any other questions or concerns. Contact us at info@woodlandconnections.org

Woodland Connections grew from a shared love of the woodland and a passion for encouraging children and adults to enjoy the benefits of being in nature. We now provide a wide variety of events in the woodland, all of which are based around the 5 Ways to Well-Being: Give, Connect, Keep Learning, Be Active, Take Notice.

We provide sessions for adults, for families and for children. From 1:1's, private group bookings, to themed days and workshops. There are fun, creative imaginative days and calm, peaceful, relaxing days. Days to rest your mind and soul, days to boost your mood and lift your spirits.

We welcome staff well-being groups, family gatherings, children's birthdays and more.

Whatever kind of day you would like in the woods, get in touch and we will work with you to create a wonderful day for your group.

On the other hand, we can come to you! If you have a natural space and would like to have a day of nature connection, we can travel so get in touch to discuss options!
