SURGERIES - Free one on one advice from experts on music law and music finance, bookable on the night.

ADVICE FAIR - Like a mini freshers fair, there'll be a load of relevant organisations with stalls there for you to meet and get advice from key peeps at the organisation about how they can help you, from the Artis Council to the BBC.

Part of Confetti ICT's Industry Week - the only event open to the general public!

Our first ever Nusic Megashop. A Nusic Academy Workshop, Nusic Academy Surgeries and Nusic Academy Advice Fair all wrapped into one, it's the incredibly naff sounding, but hugely informative, Nusic Megashop! Featuring some awesome speakers and advisors.

The Workshop will take its usual public Q&A format aiming to help Nottingham musicians acquire the knowledge, skills and contacts they need to succeed. The Workshop will focus on advice for getting media exposure for your music, from the experts from XFM, NME and Drowned In Sound. Alongside this, before and after, we will also run the Nusic Advice Fair offering you the chance to get free informal one on one expert advice from the following:

- Acoustic Rooms (confirmed)
- Arts Council (confirmed)
- BBC Introducing (confirmed)
- LeftLion (confirmed)
- Nottingham Music Hub (confirmed)
- Notts In A Nutshell (confirmed)
- Nusic (yep we're attending our own event), we'll represent Notts TV too.
- Nottingham Post (invited, awaiting confirmation)
- YMCA (confirmed)
- Young Creative Awards (confirmed)

Plus there will be free one on one half hour Nusic Academy Surgeries available with a music lawyer and with a music accountant, just turn up on the night, first come, first served.

JOHN KENNEDY - XFM's Patron saint of New Music. Having championed artists as diverse as Dizze Rascal, Adele and M.I.A, John is one of the most important radio djs in the UK.

RHIAN DALY - Assistant Reviews Editor at NME, writer of the recent NME article on Nottingham's DIY scene.

DOM GOURLAY - Drowned In Sound Senior contributor and columnist.

Is it free?

Yes. Thanks to the support of our supporters all Nusic Academy events are free.

What is 'Love Spreading'? Is this like speed dating for musicians?

No, although that's an idea! And now you mention it... Anywho, Nusic has a general philosophy of trying to spread as much positive energy as possible. Tangibly this means proactively connecting people, always looking for the positive and always acknowledging sources of help, assistance and/or knowledge. At Workshops it focuses on connecting people, before the relaxed networking (no one is forced to chat to randoms) starts we shout out any promoters, media peeps, lonely bassists etc in the room who you might want to meet. We also give you the chance to shout out if you're looking for vocalist, bassist etc to collab with, you could be sitting next to your perfect lead guitarist and not even know it, we try and make sure great connections that might otherwise not happen, do happen.

If it's free why do you say it might sell out?

We expect all the free tickets to be snapped up in advance, as such we expect the event to 'sell-out'.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This is open to anyone who is aged 14 or over, you do NOT have to be a Confetti student. ID is not necessary, but if you wish to use the bar you will need to show relevant ID.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

There is nothing you need to bring with you except your eager selves and your ticket, brining your demo cd is probably a good idea though!

What if I can no longer go?

We'd really appreciate you emailing us so we can let some one else go in your place -

Where can I find out more?

Check out the Nusic's FAQ here, specifically on the Nusic Academy here

What's the difference between a Megashop and a Workshop?

The Megashop is playful name, as we are doing everything at the same time. Normally Nusic Academy Workshops, Surgeries and the like are run at different times. This time around we're experimenting with having everything at the same time. Workshops are a public format based around Q&A with a panel. The Advice Fair will offer you the chance to go to a number of stalls each manned by an expert ready and waiting to offer you informal guidance. Surgeries offer you the chance to have half an hour to yourself with an expert for free One on One advice.

Where can I get more of this good music eductional shizzle?
