Nutford Place Paper Sculpture Workshop (London Design Festival)

Throughout September, Westminster City Council and Portman Estate with Root And Erect are hosting a series of creative activations at Nutford Place, Edgware Road - a programme designed to connect with the local community and celebrate the area’s rich heritage.

As part of Designing the Magic Carpet events happening at Nutford Place Local Living Room in September, join us for an outdoor paper sculpture workshop with Root And Erect in collaboration with creative paper specialists GF Smith.

Taking visual cues from the Seed of Life grid patterns that inspired artist Lacey Ferri’s floor patterns designs in Nutford Place, we invite people of all ages to create extraordinary 3D sculptures based on on Villarceau circles – the geometric shapes created by obliquely bisecting the form of a torus.

Participants will be encouraged to write their hopes for the neighbourhood on their sculptures, and will be free to take smaller sculptures home, or to leave larger versions behind for decorations for the Feast day festival happening at the end of the month.
